On May 28, the University of Utah Asia Campus hosted an unforgettable evening at Incheon’s Munhak Baseball Stadium, inviting faculty, staff and students to experience the thrill of a Korean professional baseball game. Sponsored as part of the Utah Asia Campus’s all-campus spring excursion, the event offered more than just entertainment—it became a vibrant celebration of school pride, cross-cultural connection and community spirit.

Leading the charge was the Utah Asia Campus’s baseball club, the Utah Devils, waving custom flags that read “Go Landers! Go Utah!” Positioned at the front of the cheering section, the club energized both campus attendees and surrounding spectators with chants and cheers. Dressed in bright red jerseys emblazoned with “University of Utah Asia Campus,” the community quickly became a standout presence in the stadium.

“It felt like our section turned red with school pride,” said Amy Lee, a film and media arts major. “The custom jerseys made it feel like we were truly one community.”

Unlike the relatively subdued atmosphere of American Major League Baseball games, Korean baseball is a high-energy event with nonstop cheering, songs, drums and synchronized fan chants. This unique experience was new to many international faculty and students, and instantly unforgettable.

“It was electric,” said Molly Kinder, senior program coordinator for Student Leadership and Involvement at the Utah Asia Campus. “Korean baseball has such a different vibe—it’s more like a concert than a ballgame!”

More than just a game, the evening served as a moment of emotional recharge, especially for students in the midst of final exams.

“I was overwhelmed with exams and to-dos,” said Dawoon Jung, a film and media arts student. “Thanks to the school, I got to watch a great game and truly refresh myself. I’ll definitely join again if there’s another event like this.”

“The energy was incredible,” added Jungyeon Yoon, a communications major. “Everyone in our section stood up, sang together and shared the excitement like one big family. I’ll never forget this day.”

From cheering in unison to enjoying Korean ballpark snacks and witnessing the joy of collective fandom, the night reminded everyone that Utah Asia Campus is more than a university—it’s a community.
