Humans of the U: Yeseo ‘Ava’ Ahn

“The University of Utah has opened doors for me, allowing me to grow both personally and professionally as I prepare for my future career. My journey began at the Utah Asia Campus, where I built a vibrant community and formed lasting friendships. Spending my first year at the U Asia Campus was pivotal, providing me with a taste of American college life and education as a Korean international student. The unwavering support from my professors at the U Asia Campus significantly impacted my journey and I am deeply grateful for it.

Transitioning to the main campus, I expanded my community further and became a University Ambassador, sharing my experiences on both campuses with prospective students. This role allowed me to connect with students and families considering the U, and it made me realize how fortunate I am to call this place home.

Additionally, my internship with the Hinckley Institute in D.C. stands out as one of the highlights of my undergraduate experience. During those three transformative months, I applied my communication skills in real-world scenarios and immersed myself in the dynamic environment of Washington D.C.

Throughout my time at the U, I’ve not only built a strong community and lifelong friendships but also engaged in experiences that have shaped who I am today.

I also had the incredible opportunity to connect with all the staff and faculty members who were there to support me during challenging moments while studying abroad. I am immensely grateful for everything I’ve learned and the opportunities that have allowed me to grow at the U.”
